Fort Covington E.M.S. Inc., an all-volunteer, not-for-profit 501c3 organization, was founded by members of the Fort Covington Fire Department in July 2013. Due to the rising costs of equipment, ambulances and general operations we researched and approved a revenue recovery program. Most volunteer EMS agencies across the State already participate in this program. We are the 5th agency in Franklin County to do so (Tupper Lake, Malone, Saranac Lake and St. Regis Falls). This program is paid for by the users of the service and is not funded by a tax levy. Patients that utilize the service will have their insurance company billed (which they are already paying for in their insurance premiums). Patients that do not have insurance will be placed in our Charity Cares Program. This program is designed to help those in financial need.
Although we were reluctant to have to start billing, it was necessary to keep our service local. We are accepting applications for new members. We need volunteers who want to become EMT's, Drivers and Attendants. We welcome volunteers of all ages (16 and Up).
If you are up to the challenge of being a volunteer, please see our "Join Us" tab on the left side of the screen!!
